Food Aid Festival, a two-day musical celebration addressing food insecurity in Chicago’s Westside communities and neighboring suburbs

WBEZ is proud to partner with Robert’s Westside for the third annual Food Aid Festival, a two-day musical celebration addressing food insecurity in Chicago’s Westside communities and neighboring suburbs.

Food Aid’s mission is to eliminate individuals and their families from experiencing hunger. We believe that food insecurity should not exist, as the right to food is a human right. Through music and entertainment, Food Aid will serve as an important funding source for interconnected community organizations and initiatives aimed at addressing food insecurity.

Proceeds from this event will benefit Unity Fridges (SUA), Beyond Hunger, A House In Austin, Austin Eats Initiative, Best of Proviso Township, and Westchester Food Pantry.

This year’s festival will take place at Robert’s Westside in Forest Park, IL.

Join us as we work to eliminate food insecurity through the power of music & conversation. More information at www.foodaidfestival.com

James McMurtry headlines Day 1 of the festival. James McMurtry is an American rock and folk/rock singer-songwriter and guitarist. His first full-length studio album in seven years, The Horses and the Hounds (August 21, 2021), is a genre-defining Americana record label.

Rounding out Day 1 is the Chicago-based contemporary Blues musician Anne Harris. Come early for a special DJ set by Stoned at the Jukebox!

Lydia Loveless headlines Day 2 of the festival. Lydia Loveless is an American alternative country singer-songwriter. Their latest album, Nothing’s Gonna Stand In My Way Again, released on September 22, 2023, is a more mellow take on the turmoil of selfhood much of Loveless’ previous albums have explored.

Day 2 includes a full slate of programming happening across the Robert’s Westside campus. Celebrate a good cause with food, raffle items, and a stacked lineup, including Nikki Morgan, High Desire, Frankie Lloyd, Chris Green Quartet, Cheryl Tomblin, and North Grove.
