The New Orleans piano wizardry of Henry Butler

The New Orleans piano wizardry of Henry Butler

One of the longest, coldest winters in memory was warmed up-if only briefly-by the presence of Henry Butler. The New Orleans native carries the history of Jazz-and in fact all piano music-in his fingers and his head. Butler is as comfortable with Chopin as he is with Professor Longhair, and his unique style could easily be described as a musical gumbo. We’re reaching back into the archives for some sounds and conversation with the great Henry Butler. Photo: Flickr/jasperwiet
