The Daybook: Sales tax saga to be concluded?

Commissioners’ attempt after attempt to cut part of the county’s sales tax rate have been unsuccessful so far. But this time it appears they have the votes to override Board President Todd Stroger’s veto. We’ll find out for sure later today, after Edwin Reyes is named the board’s newest commissioner. Speaking of the county board, State Representative John Fritchey is addressing the media about how his future hopes and dreams include the Cook County Board. And Chicago’s Finance Committee is talking about an analysis of the Olympic bid, including an ordinance to try to increase transparency in the bid process.
