Maggie Daley taken to Northwestern hospital, sources cite "adverse reaction to cancer treatment"

Maggie Daley, wife of Mayor Richard M. Daley, was taken to Northwestern hospital today, according to the Mayor’s office. The Sun-Times reports she was taken to the hospital because of a “adverse reaction to her cancer treatments."‚ Maggie Daley has been fighting breast cancer for years.‚ Mayor Daley canceled his appearance at a press conference at Shedd Aquarium and another appearance at Robeson High School to be with his wife. CHICAGO MAYOR UPDATE (1:06pm): The Mayor’s Press Secretary Jackie Heard says Maggie Daley visited her doctor with flu-like symptoms, but did not “check-in” to the hospital. She is still at the doctor’s office at Northwestern, resting.
