Something You Should Eat: on choy from Ken-Kee (video)

Some folks love their Chinese broccoli, coated in a slick oyster sauce or perhaps a simpler one with shards of fresh garlic. ‚ Others will opt for pea shoots if they’re in season. ‚ Me? I’ve come to love on choy, an aromatic green that tastes as good wok-tossed with bean curd as it does with fresh garlic. ‚ Several places in Chinatown offer it, but I think Ken-Kee’s version is among the best in town. (Note: they also have a location at the Majestic Star Casino in Gary, in case you can’t make it to the Chinatown Square Mall).
