Are you hungry for peace? Listen in to Conflict Soup!
Re-Thinking Soup presents Kambale Musavuli, who shares with us the role of “conflict minerals” in our daily lives, how America is connected to these minerals, and what we can do to address the greatest humanitarian crisis in the world today, the conflict in the Congo. Musavuli is a native of the Democratic Republic of Congo, a human rights activist, and student coordinator and national spokesperson for the Friends of the Congo.
The event explores the role the United States and its allies, Rwanda and Uganda, have played in triggering the greatest humanitarian crisis at the dawn of the 21st century. It also presents concrete ways you can help bring an end to this conflict.
Conflict Soup features a delicious bowl of soup from a country, area, or region with which the United States is in conflict, such as Afghanistan, Libya, North Korea, Cuba, or a community closer to home. We also have conversations about critical socio-political issues like juvenile justice and the increasing prison population. During this hour, a speaker presents a concise and engaging history of the conflict and offers innovative peaceful solutions.
