Proposed Near South Side High School goes before the CPS board

Chicago’s Near South Side is potentially getting a new high school, but the proposal has been filled with controversy from the surrounding communities.

Top CPS officials wrote in a confidential memo that this new school would hurt historically Black schools nearby. And people say it’s pitting the Black community against the Chinatown community.
