Chicago’s top federal prosecutor resigns

U.S. attorney John Lausch has investigated major corruption cases against Ald. Ed Burke and former Illinois House Speaker Michael Madigan.

Appointed by former President Donald Trump in 2017, John Lausch stayed on after President Joe Biden took office at the urging of U.S. Sens. Tammy Duckworth and Dick Durbin so that he could finish his major investigations into politicians. His last day as U.S attorney for the Northern Illinois District is March 11.
