George Halas created the Bears. And he helped create the NFL. The team and the league are celebrating their centenary this year, and the season begins Thursday night.

So Cheryl Raye Stout—who’s been covering the Bears for more than three decades—sat down with Halas’ grandson and team chairman George McCasky. They talk about his memories of growing up around “Papa Bear”, the idea that he’s the steward of a legacy that not only includes his family, but every Bears fan, and much more.

Cheryl ducks into the Morning Shift studios to give a preview of that conversation and the upcoming season.
