Over the next two-plus months, Morning Shift will sit down with all 10 candidates who want to replace Lisa Madigan as Illinois Attorney General to hear about their backgrounds, their platforms and their aspirations for the office.

The field includes eight Democrats and two Republicans and features a state Senator, a State rep, a former governor, a former federal prosecutor, the former head of the Independent Police Review Authority, the former chairman of the Illinois State Board of Education, and even a one-time Miss America. As you might expect, many of them have practiced law or are currently lawyers.

One of them is Aaron Goldstein. He’s been a public defender, a civil rights lawyer and a criminal defense attorney who was part of the defense team for former governor Rod Blagojevich. In 2016, he defeated Dick Mell to become Democratic committeeman for 33rd ward on Chicago’s North Side.

Morning Shift talks to Aaron Goldstein about why he thinks he should be the next Attorney General for the state of Illinois.
