New documentary profiles Chicago’s emerging ‘60’s art scene

A new documentary is the first thorough exploration of the Chicago Imagists, a group of artists who made a name for themselves when their work was showcased in Hyde Park in the 1960s and ‘70s. The Imagists brought attention to what was happening in Chicago -and reminded critics and consumers that everything cool wasn’t just happening in New York. Led by artists like Ed Paschke, the work was described as surrealistic and comical. Filmmakers Leslie Buchbinder and John Corbett discuss their new documentary Hairy Who and the Chicago Imagists (Bill Arsenault/Pentimenti Productions)
