A new documentary is the first thorough exploration of the Chicago Imagists, a group of artists who made a name for themselves when their work was showcased in Hyde Park in the 1960s and ‘70s. The Imagists brought attention to what was happening in Chicago -and reminded critics and consumers that everything cool wasn’t just happening in New York. Led by artists like Ed Paschke, the work was described as surrealistic and comical.
