State budget hits AIDS funding

Advocates and interest groups are still responding to Gov. Bruce Rauner’s budget that now awaits the general assembly’s vote. The 2016 fiscal forecast that Rauner revealed last week included a series of cuts. One group that’s concerned is the HIV/AIDS community. AIDS Foundation Chicago is calling on the Governor to find solutions to providing funds for prevention and care programs in the state. AIDS Foundation Chicago CEO and President John Peller details what the HIV/AIDS community in Illinois is dealing with, and how care and prevention has evolved in recent years. He also details how the Affordable Care Act is working with patients to provide medicine and treatment. (Flickr/Trygve.u)
