Newsrooms across nine states have released a 14-part series exploring issues that affect climate change and greenhouse gases in the Midwest region.

Reporters explored three climate-related themes: agriculture, transportation and the electric grid. In Illinois, the Better Government Association reported on the shift in the state’s carbon footprint, which now comes from transportation more than from coal-fired power.

The project was led by InsideClimate News as part of its National Environment Reporting Network. Morning Shift talks to BGA reporter Brett Chase and project coordinator Dan Gearino for more on their findings.
