Tribune Investigation Reveals Major Problems With Region’s Water Rates
A new investigation from the Chicago Tribune shows that recent hikes in Lake Michigan water rates are hitting African American communities disproportionately.
The reporting also reveals how billions of gallons of water and millions of dollars are wasted due to broken pipes and inefficiencies in Chicagoland’s water distribution system.
Morning Shift talks to Tribune reporters Patrick O’Connell and Cecilia Reyes about the two-part series The Water Drain. Part one is called “Same Lake, Unequal Rates” and part two is called “Billions Lost, Millions Wasted.”
