Journalist Nikole Hannah-Jones Talks 'The 1619 Project' In Chicago

Four centuries ago, in August 1619, a ship brought over 20 enslaved Africans to the British colony of Virginia. It was a turning point in history that is often seen as the beginning of slavery in America.

In “The 1619 Project,” journalist Nikole Hannah-Jones argues that America as we know it would not exist without slavery, and that its legacy still pervades in nearly every aspect of American society. She sat down with Reset host Jenn White during an appearance at the University of Chicago’s Institute of Politics.

GUEST: Nikole Hannah-Jones, reporter at New York Magazine
