Amid calls for his ouster, Chicago Police Superintendent Eddie Johnson defended himself after the release of a report from the Office of the Inspector General on how officials handled 17-year-old Laquan McDonald’s fatal shooting by police officer Jason Van Dyke.
According to one report, a group of high-ranking officers including Johnson viewed the police dashcam video about 10 days after the shooting.Johnson, at the time a deputy patrol chief, has said he did not voice an opinion on whether the shooting was justified. He says it was not his role.
