Law enforcement agencies in Lake County, Indiana are working together to fight crime. Seventeen police agencies are forming the Northwest Indiana Crime Task Force.

Lieutenant Leo Finnerty of the Hobart Police Department says the initiative is long overdue.

“No department in Lake County has enough detectives. And, by us being able to bring in 10 or 12 detectives from other agencies that have been trained in this and are trained in criminal investigations, this is going to be a grand slam for us,” he says

The Task Force is similar to those serving the Northwest and South suburban areas. Three days of training for those involved in the task force wraps up today in Hobart.
