Rep. Rush Pushes Bill to Preserve South Side Neighborhoods
Bronzeville is the most recognizable neighborhood in the Black Metropolis District. The area is known for its historic contributions in culture and economics. If the area eventually gets a national heritage designation, federal dollars could help bolster the community for educational and preservation projects.

ROBINSON: look at focus areas that allow us to preserve this history and culture for the long haul.
Community leaders would help lead the study, which could take up to three years and cost up to $240,000.
The study area is parts of Lake Michigan to the Dan Ryan, 18th Street to 71st Street.
