Lance Armstrong.  Misty May-Treanor and Kerri Walsh.  Michael Phelps.  Victoria Azarenka.  Judah Friedlander.

What sets them a notch or two above the rest of us?  They’re world champions.  Every stinking last one of them.  But only one truly dominates all.

You may know Judah Friedlander as a stand-up comedian, or as a cast member of the award-winning and critically-acclaimed NBC comedy 30 Rock, but above all else, he is the self-proclaimed “World Champion.”  Not A world champ, but THE World Champ… of EVERYTHING.

He’s written about this in his fictionalized memoir/motivational book, How to Beat Up Anybody: An Instructional and Inspirational Karate Book by the World Champion.

Judah is touring with his standup comedy act, and performs tonight at Mayne Stage in Chicago’s Rogers Park neighborhood.  He drops by WBEZ’s Afternoon Shift to talk about his “World Champ” persona and standup routine, his work on NBC’s 30 Rock, and his endless supply of hats.

His comedy book How to Beat Up Anybody is out now.  30 Rock, now in its sixth season, airs Thursday nights at 7:30pm Central on NBC.

Not convinced yet that Judah’s THE World Champion?  Check him out in video form.
