Milos Stehlik Reviews Blade Runner 2049
Thirty-five years after Blade Runner made science fiction history, a new sequel of the Ridley Scott classic is hitting the theaters.
Based on a Philip K. Dick novel, the premise of both movies follows special police officers called “blade runners” who hunt down rogue, deadly, and psychopathic humanoid androids. In Blade Runner 2049, a blade runner played by Ryan Gosling searches for the character from the original film played by Harrison Ford.
Denis Villeneuve, who directed the sequel, says that even though the film is fiction, it hearkens to today’s social issues around technological advancement, the police, and the economy.
