One Earth Film Fest Features ‘Straws’ On Damage By 500M-Plus Straws Americans Throw Away Daily
The One Earth Film Festival bills itself as “the Midwest’s premier environmental film festival.” The fest will show dozens of films in numerous Chicago area locations, March 2-11, 2018. Festival founder Ana Garcia-Doyle is back to preview some festival offerings. She’ll be joined by Linda Booker, director and producer of the documentary, Straws.
The film, narrated by Tim Robbins, traces the damage done by the some 500 million-plus plastic straws Americans use once, and discard, every day. Plastic straws add to the estimated 8.5 million metric tons of plastic debris that ends up in oceans every year.
Straws will screen, followed by discussion, on Saturday, March 10, 2018, 11 a.m. at Thatcher Woods Pavilion, 8030 Chicago Ave. in River Forest, Illinois.
