Syrians In Idlib Face Humanitarian Crisis

Fawaz Hilal, head of the “Salvation Government” that runs Idlib province in Syria, is urging opposition fighters to resist an onslaught from Russian-backed Syrian government forces. Idlib is the last major rebel stronghold resisting President Bashar al-Assad’s regime. According to The Union of Medical Care and Relief Organisations, 229 civilians have been killed and 727 injured in attacks in Idlib led by Syrian government forces since April 28. For its part, Turkey does not want the conflict in northwest Syria to reach its border, seeking to avoid another influx of refugees. Joining Worldview to provide an update on the healthcare and humanitarian situation in Idlib province is Zaher Sahloul. Sahloul is the president of MedGlobal, which provides healthcare services to refugees and other vulnerable populations in crisis areas. He recently returned from Idlib.
