The global growth of LGBT pride

The global growth of LGBT pride

Gay pride parades are now global and widespread, but pride parades are hardly the same in every country. They engage their local social and sexual issues in different ways. Today, we’ll discuss gay pride parades in Brazil, India, and Uganda. Melissa Minor is an anthropologist. Her dissertation research was the first ethnography of LGBT people in Uganda. Kareem Khubchandani,a doctoral candidate at Northwestern University focuses his research on queer South Asian performance and Joseph Jay Sosa, an anthropology PhD candidate at the University of Chicago, examines queer and democratic theory, urban life and geographies, and the relation between ethnographic method and writing.
