Now more than ever, we could all use a little pick-me-up.
Starting today, we’re making regular mini-sodes with ideas on how to work from home, what you should be reading, and some things to help lift your mood.
Working from home
You’ve all heard it’s smart to shower and get dressed as if you’re going into the office. But this tweet from NPR politics reporter Danielle Kurtzleben gives that advice a little spin.

Now seems like the perfect time to dive into a new series. Whether it’s heady and historical or silly and fun, find yourself a world you’d like to spend some time in. Here are some options for you:
The Wolf Hall series by Hillary Mantel: This is historical fiction at its finest, and the third book just came out a couple of weeks ago. (Greta’s dad is reading it now and says there’s “lots to savor.”)
The Nine Realms series by Sarah Kozloff: High fantasy! Lady author! Thousands of pages!
The Spellman FIles series by Lisa Lutz: These are charming mysteries that are neither murderous nor bleak, and there are SIX of them!
Lots of great stuff to watch:
The High Fidelity remake on Hulu: You may think the 2000 film needs no remake, but this one is just faithful to the original adaptation that you’ll love it.
Insecure on HBO: This series, created by Issa Rae, is excellent. The fourth season comes out in April so now is the perfect time to rewatch the first three.
WIYL: great dialogue, female friendships, love triangles
Do this stuff!:
Spend some time in the kitchen: Now is a great time for comfort food. Whatever you make, your home office will smell delicious!
Learn something creative: Whether it’s knitting or embroidery or small FIMO vegetables, make sure you’re exercising your creative muscles.
Whatever it is you’ve been putting off — maybe you’ve been meaning to meditate, or journal, or clean your closet. Whatever it is, now is a great time to make it happen!
