Activists Sue City Over Open Meetings Act

A group of activists say they were purposely kept out of two Chicago city council meetings in May and June. They say that violates the Illinois Open Meetings Act.

They’re suing to strike any actions taken during those meetings on May 18th and June 22nd. One of those moves includes the approval to use TIF dollars for a controversial multi million dollar luxury high rise off Lake Shore Drive. The city has not responded to requests for comment.
