Ray Noland likes to mix it up in his art. He uses stencils and spray paint. But he also adds race, politics and a dose of satire. The final product comes off somewhere between street art and high art. Noland credits his artistic sensibility to experiences growing up in two very different places. He was born in Chicago, and grew up in Alabama. But after high school, Chicago called him back. When he sat down to speak with Eight Forty-Eight resident poet Kevin Coval, Noland explained how his bi-regional experiences help center him.
