Over the weekend, a broad coalition of Asian-American groups got together for a “town hall forum.” It was called in response to the recently-publicized video of Chicago police officers raiding a West Side tanning salon. In that video, CPD officers appear to physically and verbally abuse the salon manager, a Chinese-American woman named Jessica Jianqing Klyzek. Ms. Klyzek has filed a federal lawsuit, alleging officers said racist, anti-immigrant statements to her as they forcibly restrained her.
