Church may be a little more crowded on Sunday on account of Easter. But do fuller pews make for fuller collection plates? There’s been no shortage of stories exploring charitable giving in the wake of the Great Recession. But what is the state of the plate?

To answer that question, Eight Forty-Eight turned to Matt Branaugh. He’s Editorial Director of the Church Management Team at Christianity Today International, based in Carol Stream, Illinois, which helped facilitate the “State of the Plate” survey.
