Candidates have found out where their name will appear on the February municipal ballot.

Yesterday, officials with the city clerk’s office held a lottery that decides ballot placement for candidates who filed at the earliest possible time.

Chicago Mayor Richard Daley and his choices for city treasurer and clerk all sealed spots at the top of the ballot.

So did 26 incumbent aldermen.

A spokesperson for mayoral candidate Bill “Dock” Walls, who lost the lottery to Daley, says the top spot is ideal; but she says voters will still look for Walls’ name no matter where it is on the ballot.
