In July of 2014, one of the Chicago’s most celebrated and decorated photojournalists, Scott Strazzante, moved on from his post at the Chicago Tribune after 13 years. Before he left, Strazzante penned a farewell letter of sorts to the city he was born and raised in. It was photo exhibit hosted by Roosevelt University’s Gage Gallery titled “Shooting from the Hip”. The show featured work shot exclusively from Mr. Strazzante’s iPhone and captured everyday scenes in Chicago. While you can’t see the exhibit any more, you can still check out many of Strazzante’s favorite photos on his old blog. Mr. Strazzante stopped by for a wide-ranging conversation about photography and the state of photojournalism.
