The Extraordinary Chambers in the courts of Cambodia was established to prosecute perpetrators of the Cambodian genocide. The joint project of the United Nations and the Cambodian government is set to try five former leaders of the Khmer Rhouge for their role in killing 1.7 million Cambodians.

The international movement to create this court for the Cambodian genocide took decades. At the end of last month testimony concluded in the trial of Kaing Guek Eav. He ran the infamous Tuol Sleng prison.

Jerome spoke with Stuart Ford. Until recently he was an assistant prosecutor at the Khmer Rhouge Tribunal. He now teaches at The John Marshall Law School.
