Chicago’s Francis Cardinal George is scheduled to be back in the city Sunday after traveling to Minnesota for a check-up at the Mayo Clinic.

When he was a teenager, Cardinal George was diagnosed with polio.

Since he turned 35, he’s been going to the Mayo Clinic every five years so doctors can check up on any lasting effects he’s had from the disease.

Earlier this year, the 69-year-old underwent surgery to remove his cancerous bladder and prostate.

He’s now believed to be cancer-free.

Cardinal George is scheduled to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the St. Vincent de Paul Society this Sunday.
