Chicago And Other Cities Organize Against Deportations

As uncertainty continues over the future of undocumented immigrants under a Trump administration, non-federal government officials and lawmakers, including Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel and Senator Dick Durbin, are launching a battery of initiatives to protect immigrants.

Morning Shift talks to WBEZ Northside reporter Odette Yousef about the barrage of efforts and how what’s being done in Chicago compares with efforts in New York City and other major U.S. cities. We also hear from Vanessa Esparza-Lopez of Chicago’s National Immigrant Justice Center about the steps undocumented immigrants can take to ensure they are maximizing their rights before the dawn of the Trump era.
