Chicago Children’s Choir artistic director, Josephine Lee, talks host Sam Weller about teaching tolerance through music and singing the songs of freedom. Since picking up the baton in 1999, she has infused the choir with an energy and youthfulness. Last summer, the choir embarked on an ambitious ten-day, six city tour of towns associated with the 1950s and ’60s civil rights movement. The group performed in Birmingham, Montgomery, and Selma, among other cities. The tour was captured on the just released compact disc, Songs on The Road to Freedom.
