Chicago Innovators: Psychologists Create App To Screen Pregnant Women Of Color For Depression

In Illinois, one in five new moms experience postpartum depression, according to the Illinois Department of Public Health.

Many new moms don’t get diagnosed or receive adequate treatment for postpartum depression. This is especially true for women of color. Two clinical psychologists at the University of Illinois Chicago are trying to change that through a mental health app called Sunnyside for Moms.
