The City of Chicago is investing $5 million dollars toward improving bus service in the city. It’s called the bus priority zone program. It’s aim is to unsnarl bottlenecks and pinch points along bus routes. Some improvements may include street resurfacing, establishing bus-only lanes, plus new pavement, markings and signage. At some traffic stops, buses will get a head start in front of other vehicles when the light turns green. City officials say this bus initiative is also an effort to meet its climate change goals.
