In a ruling last week, the Illinois Appellate Court indicated that the 41-year-old landmarks law that protects more than 250 sites and 50 historic districts in Chicago is unconstitutionally vague. If the law were to be overturned, properties like Frank Lloyd Wright’s Robie House and the Mies van der Rohe high-rises on Lake Shore Drive would lose their status as landmarks.
