Chicago sued over ‘racially discriminatory’ traffic stops
The lawsuit alleges traffic stops have been used to unlawfully search and detain minority residents on the city’s South and West sides.
Black drivers in Chicago are up to seven times more likely to be pulled over than white drivers, while Latino drivers are about twice as likely. That’s according to a new lawsuit the American Civil Liberties Union of Illinois filed against the city of Chicago and the Chicago Police Department this week.
