Circulation Down for Chicago Tribune, Sun-Times

Chicago’s two main daily newspapers, The Chicago Tribune and The Chicago Sun-Times, both continue to see a decrease in circulation. That’s according to figures released today by the Audit Bureau of Circulations.

The Sun-Times Media group saw a decrease in circulation for both its flagship paper and seven suburban papers. The numbers became public today as the company’s sale to businessman James Tyree was completed. While the Sun-Times’ home delivery is up 5.5 percent, the paper’s Monday-through-Friday circulation fell 12 percent compared to last year’s six-month reporting period. Tribune circulation fell 9.7 percent in the same period. On average, newspaper circulation across the country declined more than 10 percent.
