Community Renewal Society: Officers Get Away With Too Much

A church coalition celebrated Palm Sunday by holding protests at Chicago police stations.

The Community Renewal Society says officers get away with too much brutality, so it wants a police auditor’s office independent of the mayor. On Sunday, the coalition led simultaneous prayer vigils and blockades at nearly all of Chicago’s 22 police district stations.

At the Jefferson Park station, they faced opposition from two aldermen. WGN-TV showed Anthony Napolitano and Nick Sposato wearing blue T-shirts that said, “Police Lives Matter.”
