Consulting in the Dark

By The ArchivesStem cells have been tested as a treatment for some blindness that might benefit our contributor Beth Finke who lost her sight long ago.
But in recent years, Beth has become increasingly comfortable with her condition and, in some cases, has found it useful, both for herself and to provide insight to others.
Take for example her recent work in theater. A Chicago company staged the play, Wait Until Dark, which many actually may recall as the film starring Audrey Hepburn and Alan Arken.
The story involves a blind woman caught in a scheme to win her confidence, while more dubious plans are afoot. When Chicago’s Court Theatre planned their production, they sought out an “expert” to be their “technical consultant.”
The Court Theatre’s run of Wait Until Dark runs through this Sunday at the Court Theatre at 5535 South Ellis Avenue in Hyde Park in Chicago.
