Cook County suburbs losing population, and far southwest suburban counties gain

Between 2020-2023, Cook County as a whole lost nearly 4% of its population.

It’s not just the city of Chicago that’s losing population; it’s also suburbs in Cook County, according to new Census data. But some counties farther out from Chicago are gaining residents big time.
