Scholars and researches discuss the interplay between society and science at the Adler Planetarium’s high-tech Grainger Sky Theater. The discussion focuses on the mysteries of the cosmos and how they have affected our art, entertainment, and education, and the disconnect between society and true scientific knowledge.

Panelists include: Paul Knappenberger, president of Adler Planetarium; Salman Habib, senior physicist and computational scientist at Argonne National Laboratory; David Schmitz, fellow at Fermi National Accelerator Lab; and Angela Olinto, professor of astronomy and astrophysics at the University of Chicago. The panel discussion is moderated by Edward “Rocky” Kolb, professor and chair of the Department of Astronomy and Astrophysics at the University of Chicago.

This event is the fifth in a series of Joint Speaker events for University of Chicago faculty and scientists and researchers and engineers from Argonne National Laboratory and Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory.
