The country’s third largest school district plans to defy a state mandate about standardized testing. Chicago Public Schools said Saturday that they will only issue the PARCC exam to ten percent of its schools rather than district-wide. The test is part of the Common Core standards that aim to assess students’ readiness for future education and college. The PARCC exam has its opponents, including the parent-teacher group More Than A Score, who believes that the district needs to re-evaluate its testing structure.
