Death Penalty Execution Rate Reaches Highest in 25 Years

A new report from Amnesty International shows a dramatic increase in the number of people executed around the world. 

According to the report, in 2015, capital punishment took an estimated 1,634 lives worldwide, the highest recorded number since 1989, and a 54 percent increase from the year before. Just three countries - Iran, Pakistan, and Saudia Arabia - were responsible for a vast majority of global executions. James Clark of Amnesty International joins us to discuss the recent rise in capital punishment around the globe.
