Each baseball season, more than 1,700 fans get hit with balls and shattered bats at Major League parks. In June, a woman sustained life-threatening injuries in Boston. This past Sunday at Wrigley Field, a woman was stretchered off and sent to the hospital. Last Friday, a woman in Detroit was seriously injured by a foul ball, prompting Tigers star Justin Verlander to tweet about the need for additional safety measures.
