Illinois U.S. Senator Dick Durbin says he’s confident the Senate can move forward with reforming health care this week.

The Senate Finance Committee is expected to vote on a bill tomorrow that includes a measure prohibiting insurers from barring people with pre-existing conditions. Durbin says he hopes some Republicans will vote in favor of the bill.

DURBIN: I think we have a good chance of reporting the bill from the Senate Finance Committee, which is the last step to moving this to floor debate. I hope that we will have several Republicans joining us in this effort. They have just been unwilling to even try.

Durbin says Senator Olympia Snowe of Maine is one of the few Republicans willing to work with Democrats.
