In the late 19th century, George Pullman built an entire small town all in support of industry - his rail car company. He wasn’t the only one. Head a few miles east out of Pullman to East Chicago, Indiana. You’ll find the lesser-known community of Marktown. The Chicago Architecture Foundation is offering a tour this Saturday. Edward Torrez will lead it â€”he’s a principal with the architectural firm Bauer-Latoza. He gives Richard Steele for a primer on the history - and the coming revitalization – of Marktown. He says Marktown was developed at a moment when the American home was undergoing a re-do.
