In 1977, Irish Republican Army member Bobby Sands was imprisoned for possession of a handgun. While imprisoned Sands led a group of fellow IRA members on a hunger strike. The aim was to restore their status and rights as political prisoners. Steve McQueen tells the story in the film Hunger. Eight Forty-Eight’s film critic Jonathan Miller tells more about the film.The film opens at the Music Box Theatre tomorrow.
